Uus Maailm District Street Festival 2017

On September 2-3, 2017, the streets of the district Uus Maailm will be once again opened to the pedestrians!

The days, weeks, months and seasons have passed almost unnoticeably and the 11th Uus Maailm District Street Festival is already peeking around the corner. So, it's a good idea to mark down the first weekend of September on the calendar.

As it has become a tradition, good music can be heard on the stage, the streets are full of life, street sport, traders and home cafes.

The trading conditions for home cafes and street market are on the homepage of the festival. For those who want to be in the children's and youth area of the festival, and to represent some nice collective or otherwise cooperate, then the contact is info@tanavafestival.ee.

The music programme of the main stage attracts indie, rock, blues and electronic music lovers. The list of performers includes street festivals' veteran ensemble Hilbert's Problems, Noortebänd competition winners from the last year – The Notes, young men Sten-Olle and Rauni Vaher from Uus Maailm district, as well as several other different groups from different corners of Estonia.

The festival will be especially fun for children, as the children's and youth area will once again be opened in a children's stadium where different sports competitions take place at the same time. There is also an exhibition of local dogs and a large recycling fair. On both days street artists performing at the crossroad of Koidu and Videviku street offer real experiences.

The official after-party of the festival will take place at Erinevate Tubade Klubi on the evening of the opening day and it features the Latvian indie-pop star Carnival Youth and Estonian most stylish indie rock band The Boondocks. Liisa Lahtmets and Liisa Liksor are selecting music before and after the bands.

The Uus Maailm District Street Festival will be held in cooperation with the Tallinn Environmental Board in the framework of an environment-friendly movement month. The official opening of the environment-friendly movement month will take place at 12:00 on the opening day of the festival. On this day and also on the next day, the Street Festival will also host the Prügihunt programme, which teaches kids some waste sorting.
